ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS

Do you have what it takes to become a dynamic leader and change not only yourself but the world?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.

RYLA participants are nominated by local Rotary clubs. Applications for awards funded by the Rotary Club of New Castle, are submitted through school guidance counselors for New Castle, Laurel, Shenango, Union, Neshannock, and Mohawk High Schools.  The application process begins in February. Please reach out to your High School Guidance Counselor for information on how to apply and any costs of getting involved.

Are you a member or alumnus of Interact, Rotaract, or Rotary Youth Exchange? RYLA can reconnect you with Rotary. Attend a local, regional, or international RYLA event to continue building your leadership skills or volunteer as a peer mentor.

Rotary Outstanding Vocational Awards

Rotary Outstanding Vocational Awards (ROVA) was an intensive educational program for vocational youth leaders. Young people chosen for their potential attended a Leadership Camp to learn and enhance skills through effective practice.

Rotary Interact

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.

Club membership varies greatly. Clubs can be single gender or mixed, large or small. They can draw from the student body of a single high school or from two or more high schools in the same community.

Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of – Developing leadership skills and personal integrity – Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others – Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work – Advancing international understanding and goodwill.

Currently there is a Rotary Interact clubs at Neshannock High School and the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center.
